Some of the solutions I help clients through could really be very simple; however, we have this tendency to get in our own way sometimes.  Recently I spent yet another session working with a new client who is frustrated with his team.  “They won’t do what I need them to do.  They are professionals.  They should just know!”

Kirsten: “Their actions suggest that they don’t know.  I believe they want to do a good job.  I believe that they think they are doing a good job.  They don’t know what your definition of a good job is and are unaware of your frustration.”
Client: “They should just know what to do!”
Kirsten: “You can sit in the frustration of that statement and live with the resulting resentments as they fail to work as you’d like them to ~ OR ~ you can tell them what you want them to do so that they can make informed choices as they conduct their work.  Let’s see if they have the ability to do well with additional information from you.  Can you just give it a try as a fun little experiment?”
Client: “I don’t want to have to tell them what to do.  They should just know.”
Kirsten: “They are not mind readers.  How about this: try a simple one to see how that turns out.”

As a leader, you have the power to direct your team.  You get to take action to correct what is not going well.  Don’t give away that power; embrace it and do what you must to achieve in your business!

This is why I love my work!  Sometimes the answers are so simple but there is so much junk in the way that my clients can’t see the solutions.  On the other side is great transformation and I get to help them get there!

If you need help getting there, contact me!  I’m just an email or phone call away.  I would love to help you succeed!
